Topic outline

  • Creating a course plan

In the last two modules you did a lot of the high level thinking in terms of the context of your course and you lay the groundwork to get started with the more concrete planning stage as you developed a course blueprint. This module is organized into two main topics:

    1. Planning for Alignment and Engagement: a book that will guide you throught planning learner engagement activities as you streamline learning objectives and draft assessment and self-assessment strategies.
    2. Course Structure: Content and Resources: a book that will guide you through sequencing the content, identifying learning resources and creating a course structure.

After you work through this section, you will be able to:

    1. Write effective learning objectives according to Blooms Taxonomy, aligned with course intent.
    2. Determine the learning activities that will facilitate the attainment of each learning objective.
    3. Plan assessment and/or self-assessment events that will demonstrate the attainment of the learning outcomes.
    4. Create a topic outline for the course (structure and sequencing), organized in major topics and subtopics, aligned with the learning objectives.
    5. Use Open Educational Resources to support teaching and learning in blended and online courses.
    6. Interpret the scope of use of OERs and learning objects licensed through Creative Commons (CC)
    7. Login to Moodle, access a course, edit profile and settings for a specific course.
    8. Create a specific structure for a course in Moodle based on an initial course plan.
    9. Explain the functionality of each editing icon available in Moodle.
