The humbling life of Per Gerog Scheutz, and the ill fate that had befallen him at young age proved that the faculties of the mind and human soul has an unbreakable bond. Experiencing tragedy by losing his wife two years after engaging and losing his daughter one day after birth is unfathomable. These events were all compounded by the fact the he was still pursuing his degree at law school and to finish had to offer tutoring services to junior students in an effort to make ends meet.

The fact that one does not necessarily have to specialize in a particular field of study in order to be successful is testament that the human brain is dynamic. To be recognized and having ones name forever etched in history is highly commendable. The contribution to the computer and printer as we now know it was envisioned in 1883, that one hundred-thirty-seven years ago. Indeed this demonstrates a level of a serious vision, progressive and futuristic thinking. What amazes me the most is that Scheutz was a man of many trades in his life time but he was not an inventor. The ability to stay the course and delve to profound levels within oneself to accomplish a dream and a goal speaks volumes. Today we take are engaged and locked into these technological devices. The have now become so common place now that we forget the timeline and the laborious incremental processes the founders endured and we often take them for granted. This DEL has allowed me to take a look into the review mirror and re-engage, reflect and embrace the past and recognize the individual efforts and contributions by all who’s made the technology we have today, what it is.
