Evaluating Online Information

Searching for information online has proven to be very time consuming and overwhelming due to the vast amount of data available for any given search. At times the desired content is not readily available and the search simply flows from one page to many others.  In addition, when one feels to be conducting a search for a specific item, search engines make available content that it relates to the given search which at times for you; it seems to have no relevance.

Online platforms to me are never secure and it exposes your computer to viruses and may also expose your personal data to unwanted sites or extensions linked to the platform.  This may create an easier path for hackers to get a hold of your personal documents and accounts.

Online content are not always secure data since anyone is able to upload content and becomes a part of the feedback obtained when conducting a search.  At times, if one is not familiar with a particular topic it becomes easier for us to fall into the trap of believing fake news.  To avoid this, I normally rely on searching various web sites based on the same topic to find similarities and ensure that you are on the right track.  This clarifies doubts and prevents us into further sharing false information.
