Facilitation is where the learners are encouraged to take more control of the learning process. The facilitator's role is that of the organiser by providing resources and support to learners.

True Albert. In facilitation, the focus is on what the learner does rather than on what the teacher does. The role of the teacher then becomes offering guidance and monitoring what the learners are doing

Teaching is to lead the students in a structured manner by equipping them with the necessary information they need in order for them to
understand the topic being addressed. It is mainly one way.

On the other hand, facilitation is to provide leadership and guide them to think and find solutions to problems without giving them any of the solutions. It can also be considered as a form of mentorship to the learners.

Under teaching, we can mention the fact that teachers act as the 'monopoly' or 'tyrannies' of knowledge and expertise hence one way. On the other hand, facilitation promotes the concept of decentralization of knowledge and expertise from the teacher.

Facilitation is an interactive means through which learner's creativity, imagination, discovery and insights help connect new knowledge with experience. The differences between teaching and facilitation are as follows;
Facilitation Teaching
- Learner centered - Teacher centered
- Support learners through the process - Basically create and implement learning materials
- Base on group discussions - Focuses on the teacher and content being taught

Well articulated.
Under facilitation learners get more insights/solutions to problems under study unlike the teaching where teachers find solutions to problems and feed the learners.

Teaching is traditional method of passing information from a person who is more knowledgeable (teacher) to one with less knowledge (student). The student is passive while the teacher is active. on the other hand, facilitation is modern method of passing information where the teacher enhances the student to be active in acquiring the knowledge and creates a conducive environment that is neutral in order to ensure this process is effective and efficient. The student therefore becomes an active participant in obtaining Knowledge

Dear Team,
Thank you for your active participation in this discussion on the definition of facilitation. I noted the following points from the discussion:
1. Facilitation is encouraging learners to take control of the learning process
2. The facilitator's role is that of an organizer by providing resources and supporting the learners
3. Facilitation is an interactive means through which learner's creativity, imagination, discovery and insights help connect new knowledge with experience.
4. Facilitation is a modern method of passing information where the teacher enhances the student to be active in acquiring the knowledge and creates a conducive environment that is neutral in order to ensure this process is effective and efficient. The student therefore becomes an active participant in obtaining Knowledge.

We can then summarize that facilitation is Providing a learning environment that results in high-quality learning which requires ‘active construction of meaning and the possibility of conceptual change on the part of the learners. Student engagement is important in ensuring high-quality learning.Effective facilitation results in meaningful learning for learners. Different strategies are applied with a focus on students gaining understanding rather than just reciting the right answers.

Regards,
Barbara Khavugwi

Facilitation in learning is the process of supporting and guiding learners to achieve their learning goals. It involves creating a supportive learning environment, providing resources and support, and helping learners to reflect on their learning. Teaching is the act of implementing learning materials by advancing the students'/ learners' knowledge and skills in understanding the specific subject matter while facilitation is supporting learners through the process and help maximize their education by helping them to connect new knowledge with experiences
