By the end of this week you should be familiar with and able to use a wide range options the MS PowerPoint program offers to design slides. This week is about learning what the tool can do. Already now I like to draw your sttention to: Knowing what the tool can do and being able to use it DOES NOT mean you will ever use it in the slides you are going to design next week for use in a learning situation. PowerPoint was designed for, and is mainly used in presentations. A presentation, by its very nature, is predominantly one-sided. The presenter does everything -- gathers information, eliminates extraneous points, and selects the direction and duration of the presentation. The role of the audience is to sit and absorb the information. This course focuses on educational use of PowerPoint slides. More on this in the next topic. What you have to cover in the set of slides to demonstrate your skills in using MS PowerPoint features is listed in the detailed Checklist MS PowerPoint skills "What I have to cover in my set of slides to demonstrate my skills in using MS PowerPoint features". Download the checklist list to your computer / laptop. Your assignment for this week will be to submit a set of PowerPoint slides demonstrating the skills listed in the checklist and to submit the completed checklist. If it help you you can print a copy to keep next to you.
